About East of India

East of India was founded in 1991 by John Ayris and Anna Spratling. While they travelled through Asia they met a talented craftsman in Bali who made stunning products. His work inspired them to start a business focused on bringing these beautiful handmade crafts to a wider audience. All of East of India's products are designed in Britain from their studio in Folkestone by a varied and dedicated team. They take their environmental responsibilities very seriously and have been closely involved with a tree planting project in Indonesia, and they also harness solar power in their UK office and warehouse, saving over 32 tonnes of CO2 per year. All of their packaging is made from recycled materials.
