Dartington was born in 1967 as a Dartington Hall Trust social enterprise in North Devon. Built on clean and simple design, they quickly became the most recognised manufacturer of functional glassware in the UK.Â
Each piece is made using age-old Scandinavian techniques, that have ensured their designs have lasted in popularity and quality over the decades, growing the brand to make them the only remaining factory scale producer in the country. The original success in their designs is attributed to their former head designer Frank Thower, who was with Dartington from 1967 and 1986, but today the success belongs to Hilary Green, who carries on that legacy of beautiful design.
They create their stunning works in their Torrington factory, crafting around 13,800 pieces per month, and all made using 24% lead crystal that is hand crafted into shape. Once made, each piece is carefully inspected to ensure the finest quality, and only then can it carry the official Dartington stamp of quality.Â
